Post – Extended Schools Deputy Manager

Location – Robert Fitzroy Academy, 80 Brampton Rd, Croydon, Greater London,  CR0 6JN

Job start – January 2018

Salary – SP 23 – 25 (£23,115 – £24,510)

Contract type – Full Time, all year round

Contract term – Permanent subject to a 6 month satisfactory probation

Having opened as a brand new primary academy in 2012, The Robert Fitzroy Academy continues to grow and now has established itself as a ‘Good with Outstanding features’ School (Ofsted, July 2014), in our beautifully refurbished school buildings.

The school has worked hard during these formative years to establish its ethos and core values resulting in happy, vibrant learning environment where children are motivated to achieve. This role represents a fantastic opportunity. You will join the academy in its sixth year and work alongside a committed and supportive team of professionals to help build on our excellent reputation and thus have a real impact on the overall development of the school. As the school grows year by year, so too does the range of opportunities and responsibilities for our staff.

Due to the recent expansion of our extended services provision the academy is seeking to appoint a Deputy Manager. You must have personal qualities and skills of the highest order, to help ensure that the Robert Fitzroy Academy becomes a truly outstanding and highly successful school. Your role will be support the Extended Services Co-Ordinator with the day to day running of the extended services provision (breakfast, after school, holiday club and enrichment clubs).

We wish to appoint an outstanding and highly motivated individual from January 2018:

In particular, successful candidates should have:

  1. Experience of working in a child care or play-based setting/experience of working with 4 – 11 year olds
  2. Experience of working in a supervisory or management capacity for at least 2 years
  3. Experience of administration
  4. Ability to use IT based resources to support play and club administration
  5. An understanding of child development and learning.
  6. The appropriate Level 3 qualification.
  7. Food hygiene certificate and training
  8. Current pediatric certificate or willingness to train
  9. Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities

Essential qualities:

  1. The ability to build effective relationships with students, parents and other staff
  2. Be able to maintain discipline whilst promoting motivation and good behaviour
  3. Be able to work constructively as part of a team and demonstrate leadership skills
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Experience of delivering equal opportunities in a child care/play based setting
  6. A good understanding of the varied needs of children and their families
  7. Appropriate child protection training / willingness to undertake such training
  8. Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense

Our Extended Services Deputy Manager will support the Extended Services Co-ordinator in all aspects of our extended schools and family involvement provision.
