TEACHER – CORE SUBJECTS & PE

Tidemill Academy is a National Teaching School with an outstanding reputation for being creative, innovative and at the leading edge of educational reform. Situated next to the busy and diverse Deptford High Street, only 6 minutes from London Bridge by train, 11 minutes from Cannon Street and Waterloo and accessible by DLR, Tidemill is a haven where children from all backgrounds flourish. PE is a valued part of our provision. Our pupils have a positive attitude to sport and healthy lifestyles and participate in many of our extended school opportunities. We regularly attend the London Youth Games in a range of sports and are successful in many Lewisham competitions. We have achieved the Sports KiteMark (gold) for a number of years. Tidemill has good links with local clubs and regularly use the pool next door at Wavelengths.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated teacher who will make a positive impact on outcomes for our children. Working alongside our full-time sports coach, the successful candidate will bring new ideas and skills to the post through leading and teaching PE from the Nursery to Year 6.  The candidate will also contribute to core areas of learning through an allocated teaching load for approximately one day per week e.g. a G&T maths set and guided reading group per day (currently in year 5). This position is not suitable for an NQT.

An overwhelmingly positive culture exists within our happy and successful school community. We believe Tidemill is a haven where children from all backgrounds can flourish and we achieve all this in a buzzing, multicultural area of South East London. Our vision for Tidemill is clear – we believe that children must have the best possible education to improve their life chances.

As the lead school in the Endeavour Teaching Alliance, we put great emphasis on teacher development and there are a multitude of exciting opportunities at Tidemill for you to develop your teaching and leadership skills. Our teachers “go the extra mile” and are supported by an outstanding staff team whose commitment is recognised and rewarded at all times. Do you think you have the talent, drive and dedication to make the difference to a very deserving community?

You will need to be a creative & inspiring teacher who:

  • Makes learning fun and engaging
  • Has a track record of raising achievement
  • Demonstrates initiative and can enthuse and lead others
  • Is an excellent, engaging communicator who will develop strong relationships with children, parents and the wider community

In return, we will offer:

  • A hugely talented & committed staff including HLTAs, Place2Be counsellors and a resident artist
  • A vibrant, richly diverse school community
  • First class professional and career development opportunities, including Specialist Leader of Education
  • The opportunity to positively impact school improvement and the educational landscape through our role as the lead school in the Endeavour Teaching School Alliance
  • The chance to work with a supportive family of schools who share the same passion for primary education
