Overview

Do you want the opportunity to be part of a unique team to set-up a brand new academy from scratch? Are you passionate that all children deserve the very best opportunities, irrespective of their background? If so, we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for someone who is wholeheartedly committed to giving children and their families the support they need to enable children to thrive in school and be the best that they can be and are prepared to work hard to achieve this. It is essential that you are able to work on your own initiative and outside your comfort zone from time to time. We are looking for that special someone who will make this role their own, carve it out from scratch and ultimately positively affect the lives of so many children and families within the academy. Most importantly, we want someone who is up for a challenge and wants to get stuck in with all aspects of our academy life!

About us

Green Ridge Academy is a new primary school built on Berryfields, which opened in September 2017 in temporary accommodation on the site of the permanent building. The permanent school building opened in September 2018. The academy currently has two Nursery classes, two Reception classes, two Year One classes, a Year Two class and a Year Three class. The school will grow year-on-year, taking children from aged 2-11. The school will initially have a capacity for over 450 children, but is being built with the additional capacity to extend to a three-form entry school with just over 650 children.

The academy is now looking to appoint this new, key role to support the senior leadership team in ensuring that all children and families receive the care and support they need. This is a brand-new, bespoke role and is really there for someone to make their mark on and show an enduring impact. There is no doubt about it, setting up the academy from scratch will take vision, dedication and hard-work, but being part of that exciting and rare journey will be very rewarding to see the academy take shape over the next few years. To see more information about the school, including design plans of the school, please visit our website http://www.greenridgeacademy.co.uk

About the role

At Green Ridge, we rightly pride ourselves on the high expectations we place on the academic achievements and behaviour of all children, whatever their need, as well as a broad, diverse and engaging creative curriculum which underpins all that we do.  Green Ridge is an inclusive setting, valuing all children’s achievements, ensuring that each child is given every opportunity to meet their full potential.  There is no doubt that Green Ridge is an exciting place to be – for children, staff, parents and the local community!

The role of Education, Welfare and Pastoral Lead will be to have responsibility for four broad areas of the academy, including family support, pupil attendance, safeguarding and first aid and medical needs. The job description gives further information about the types of requirements for each part of the position, but we are clear that the role will be flexible; no two days will ever be the same at Green Ridge, and we really need someone who will remain flexible, calm and most importantly, champion our children and their families to give them the support they need at different times. The role will work alongside the leadership team within the academy, to provide the day-to-day management of the welfare and pastoral systems and as such, the role will be suitably remunerated for the right candidate.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for that someone who can sell ice to the Eskimos, that person who can see an opportunity and idea and run with it! The role is going to be fast-paced, varied and demanding, and so it is paramount that the person appointed can think on their feet, work on their own within a supportive team, and can ask for help or advice when they need it.

The successful candidate will have: – The motivation to achieve the very best for the children in our care and be relentless in the pursuit of excellence  – Excellent inter-personal skills – Experience with supporting children and families – Excellent communication skills and a good sense of humour

– Excellent organisational skills

– High levels of confidentiality In return we can offer: – A firm commitment to you and your professional development – Friendly, supportive, enthusiastic and hardworking pupils, staff and Governors  – A growing learning community  – Encouragement to develop new ideas and the opportunity to make a real difference

-Coaching and mentoring from the academy’s Senior Leadership Team

-Fantastic trust-wide CPD opportunities

-Vast opportunities for career progression
